The Martinsville boys' golf team finished 10th out of 18 teams Saturday in the Sollman Invitational at Trophy Club Golf Course in Lebanon. The tournament was hosted by Zionsville High School.
Bradford Woods seeking crafters, artisans for show

Bradford Woods will be having a fall harvest festival on Oct. 27 and is seeking local crafters and artisans to participate. The festival will focus on local handmade and homemade iteams and booth space is available for $25. Money raised during the event will go towards funding camperships for summer camps. The show will also feature activities for children, archery, artists, barbecue, boats, cider, climbing, crafts, hay rides, musicians, soups and trick-or-treating. Mayor signs proclamation for National Nursing Home Week

Martinsville Mayor Phil Deckard signs and stamps a proclamation declaring May 13 to 19 in honor of National Nursing Home Week. The Waters of Martinsville is celebrating the week in honor of the national recognition. The special week is an opportunity or individual nursing homes to bring into focus its residents and their families impact in the community, many of whom planted the seeds that made the city grow and prosper. It also recognizes the nursing facilities and staff that are meeting a need in the community. This year's theme is "Celebrate the Journey." Submitted photo.
Painting in the park

The Rotary Club of Martinsville spent part of the weekend painting the outside of Shelter House No. 4 at the Jimmy Nash City Park. The club recieved a $1,000 matching grant from the local southern Indiana Rotary district. The money will also be used to help put a new roof on one of the shelters also. The match from this grant will come from profits from the second Artesian Taste. The Artesian Taste will be held at the Art Sanctuary at 5:30 p.m. June 21. The Rotary Club feels it is important for the city park to look its best and encourages other organizations/businesses to adopt a small project to help make improvements in the park. A mural is being painted at the Animal Hospital of Martinsville, 392 S. Main St., Martinsville. It is dedicated to pets. Kathryn Maxwell is now painting the background and will add family pets soon.
