Description of Treatment Plant
Class III, 1.5 MGD plant consisting of a lift station followed by a bar
screen and grinder, primary sedimentation using clarifiers and
biological treatment using oxidation ditches and secondary
clarification. The final effluent is chlorinated and
dechlorinated and the flow is measured. Sludge is thickened using
gravity thickeners prior to anaerobic digestion. The sludge is
then hauled to the Indianapolis Belmont WWTP. The final effluent
is discharged to White Lick Creek.
Design Flow 1.5 MGD
Peak Flow 2.5 MGD
Design pop. 10,000
Design Removal 95% BOD, SS & Ammonia Nitg.
Plant Effluent Limitations 25 mg/1 CBOD, 30 mg/1SS, 1.5 mg/1 Ammonia Nitg.
Avg. Daily Flow 1.485 MGD
The plant is at 99% capacity. At this time we are upgrading our
bar screen to a mechanical fine screen and installing a grit screw
system. Also, we are installing a new sludge thickening process
using Rotary Drum Thickeners. In the near future we will need a
plant expansion to raise our capacity because of the Town’s growth.
